bright lights and copper tops!

Lighted shelves make the back bar storage easier to use the light is by way of a rope light strung behind the shelf supports in the cabinet. makes a nice warm glow.

rock, a lot of it! was used to weight down the copper to try and avoid any air bubbles or soft spots while the PL adhesive was curring. you can see the copper edge showing through.

if you look down below in the shot you can see the weights have been removed to show the copper below. it 's still shiny now but will no be allowed to cure to a flat 'leather- brown'. the rest project of the copper to be completed on Tuesday.

Also new this weekend was the shutters were hung for keeping out the elements in the off season. the out side will get the bamboo treatment the inside, the map wall paper.

new too this weekend was the donation this weekend of an antique piece of tapa cloth. 4'9"x 5'6" it belonged to my grand parents (commander and Mrs. Bill Lyon) The acquired it some where in the south pacific. it will be used at the wall ends where they meet the ceiling

exteior almost done.

with repurposed window blinds as bamboo skirting and recycled bamboo as the foot rail the exterior is almost done. drop down solid shutters and a corner tiki should do it

The ceiling is finish is reed fencing and a finicky pre-drill-holes-then-nail-through-the -bamboostrips-and -pray- you guessed- right- were- the -stud -was, arrangement. I am sure there was a better way. but it worked well enough.

this is the slab that was going to cost $2-400 to cut and I only paid $20 to buy it! I did it with a diamond blade in my circ. saw and a wet sponge. the cut was clean enough but no bull nose or doubled edge. Cheap though, $17 for the blade ;)
You can see the donated bar sink! A big thank you to Fred M.! copper and stainless should look cool.
Hoping for the big investment to arrive later this week,... Copper Counter tops!

Bar top + ceiling cover

counter tops in shows roughly the look of the finished bar top. Trying to figure out a way to swing copper counter tops

reed fencing on ceiling for thatch look (just tacked up for now)
Hope to put up a fancy piece of cultured quartz for the back bar. A pro cut will cost mre than the slab and a good bit of the whole project so I'm going to do it my self .... wish me luck. (thanks for your help and pulling some strings for me anyway Keven S.)
Still Just a darn big bug! Henry decided to give it a pet.

finally inside

the project is enclosed (so to speak) now and thoughts turn
gently towards interior things!

The drywall is 95 % done and now comes the base cabinets and bar top.

True fear sets in when I think about the $$ for interior finish. Right now; galv. steel bar top, paint and maps for wall coverings, and reed fencing for the ceiling.
Lighting is going to be recovered florescent (read energy efficient) round "Mushroom" lights. boring but I got a pair at a rummage sale still in the box for $2.50! so provided they work well go with that. Accent lights will be drop down from the ceiling (pendants + rope lights+Christmas lights)
